The Story

I bought the wizard challenge game for two of grandchildren to do at Easter. They are both very bright 10 year olds, and I thought theyād possibly find it a bit too easy. Not so, some bits were quite a challenge, made much harder by several misprints, meaning there was no option but for some of the adults to step in and work out what was wrong with the game. The three which held us up mostly were (1) misprints on the dragons egg page, actually in the āhelpā booklet, (2) the page which had to be folded into a hat should have revealed the answers, but one of them was obscured, and I had to give the answer from the help booklet, and (3) in the final section which required them to translate runes, a misprint gave two different answers for the same rune.
The game idea is very good in principle, but the errors rather spoilt it. On the strength of this one, I donāt think Iād purchase another.

We take the quality of our adventures very seriously, so after reading your comments, our design team personally re-tested the 'Great Wizard Escape' master files to ensure everything is in order. Whilst there is no misprint, it sounds like a couple of the trickier puzzles might have cast a bit of a confusion spell:
The Sorting Hat(2): This is one of our most tactile puzzles! It usually requires a very specific overlap. If the 'cut-off' band at the bottom of the page isn't removed during setup, it can sometimes obscure the secret answer.
The Runes (3): Youāre right, those ancient symbols are incredibly similar! They are designed to test a wizardās keen eye, though we know that home printer settings can sometimes make those fine details a little harder to spot than in our Pro-Printed editions.

Bought this as an afternoon activity for a wet family day and the cousins met up and this safely reduced the chaos for an hour. Great fun - all family had parts. Apparently I made a great Wizarding Headteacher!
